The Ballad of Jo Mango
One night at a Church in Newton Mearns, Nex was introduced to a musical outfit calling themselves ”Jo Mango”. The lead female singer, who coincidentally was also named “Jo Mango”, had a wonderful voice and astounding composition skills. After listening to them play, Nex went home that night seriously re-evaluating what he was trying to accomplish with music. It was then that Nex realised he must try and convey parts of himself in his music and not simply attempt to write catchy tunes. He sat down and wrote this song in less than ten minutes. It was an attempt to mimic Jo's style, as well as to convey the same depth of feeling that she was capable of.
Nex later became friends with Jo Mango and is one of her strongest supporters. To this day, he attributes much of his outlook on life to the music of the woman with the wonderful voice.
Lyrics
I thought I knew myself. I thought I understood my life. My life.
I thought I saw the truth. But the truth is I was blind. I was blind.
Now I see it all in you.
I hear your voice and I'm alive.
Synaptics coming clean. How you infiltrate my mind. My mind.
And it gives me hope to know, that there's people of your kind. You're kind.
Now I see it all in you.
I hear your voice and I'm alive.
I thought I knew myself. I thought I understood my life. My life.
I thought I saw the truth. But the truth is I was blind. I was blind.
Now I see it all in you.
I hear your voice and I'm alive.
Now I see it all in you.
I hear your voice and I'm alive.
I'm alive. I'm alive.
